New to Therapy & Wellness Connection? Here’s What You Need to Know!
You’re here — and that is worth celebrating! Whether your child was just referred for their first evaluation, you finally decided to trust that quiet instinct that something needed a closer look, or you are switching from another provider and ready for a fresh start, the fact that you are reading this means you are already doing something powerful for your child. Especially when your child has been referred for multiple services, finding the right team of pediatric therapists can make all the difference.
At Therapy & Wellness Connection, we are proud to serve children and families in Brecksville and throughout Northeast Ohio. Our team is skilled, experienced, and genuinely excited to get to know your child. The journey ahead may take time and patience, but it is also filled with breakthroughs, big and small, and we will be right there cheering every single one of them with you.
Who We Are
Therapy & Wellness Connection is a leading Northeast Ohio provider of pediatric and young adult therapy services, headquartered in Brecksville, Ohio. We serve families throughout the Cleveland, Akron, Broadview Heights, and surrounding communities. We do this in our clinic, as well as in homes, schools, workplaces, and community settings, wherever practical application of skills is needed most.
Our philosophy is simple but shapes everything we do: we see people, not impediments. Every client who comes to us, whether they are a toddler with a speech delay, a school-age child with autism, a teenager navigating social challenges, or a young adult building independence, is a whole person with unique strengths, unique goals, and a future worth investing in. We are honored to be part of that journey.
What We Offer
Therapy & Wellness Connection was structured to be a true one-stop resource for families. Our core clinical services include:
Speech-Language Therapy, which addresses communication challenges — everything from speech sound production and language comprehension to social communication, literacy skills, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) for children who need additional tools to express themselves. Our speech-language pathologists also provide feeding and swallowing therapy for children who struggle at mealtimes.
Occupational Therapy helps children build the fine motor skills, sensory processing abilities, and daily living skills they need to thrive at home, at school, and in the world around them.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) / Behavior Therapy, which uses evidence-based principles of learning and motivation to help children develop communication, social, emotional regulation, and adaptive skills. Our ABA approach is child-centered and relationship-driven — grounded in building genuine connection and equipping each child with the tools to navigate life with confidence and autonomy.
Physical Therapy, whichsupports gross motor development, balance, coordination, strength, and mobility, helping children move through their world more freely and safely.
Feeding & Swallowing Therapy, which addresses difficulties with eating and swallowing that can affect nutrition, growth, and the quality of everyday mealtimes — often one of the most stressful challenges families face.
Beyond our core therapies, Therapy & Wellness Connection offers an exceptional range of supplemental services that set us apart from a traditional clinic. These include individualized education programs — homeschooling, tutoring, and full- and half-day academic programs — social emotional learning groups and life skills courses, vocational training and support services for young adults transitioning toward employment, ADOS testing for autism spectrum disorder, teletherapy for families who cannot always make it in person, and the Thrive Summer Camp, an inclusive program that welcomes both children with disabilities and typically-developing siblings and peers. We also proudly refer our families to the Bell Family Company for nanny, sitter, nurse, and home manager services when those needs arise.
How to Get Started
Step one is a free initial screening. If you are not yet sure whether your child needs formal evaluation, we offer a no-cost screening — no physician referral required — to help you determine whether there is cause for concern and whether a full evaluation makes sense.
A physician’s referral is required for a formal evaluation. Individual referrals are needed for each therapy discipline from your child’s pediatrician or specialist before we can conduct a comprehensive evaluation or begin services. If you are not sure how to request this, our team can guide you through the process.
The evaluation process is thorough but manageable. Once we have your referral, we will complete intake paperwork, review your child’s history and your concerns, and file for insurance pre-authorization. We will then schedule a formal evaluation to assess your child’s current abilities and identify target areas. If therapy is determined to be medically necessary, we will work with your physician to obtain a prescription and develop a formal plan of care — reviewed twice annually — with individualized goals and a matched team of therapists.
Scheduling is flexible. Everything you need is available under one roof at our Brecksville location, but we also provide services in your home and in your child’s school when that is the better fit. We are committed to working with your family’s schedule and making this as seamless as possible.
A Note on Early Intervention
If you have concerns about your child’s development, please do not wait. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends screening all children between 18 and 24 months for potential developmental red flags, and child development research consistently shows that children with disabilities, delays, and learning differences achieve the best long-term outcomes when intervention begins early. The earlier therapy starts, the more plastic and receptive the developing brain is, and the greater the opportunity for lasting progress.
If your child has been receiving therapy elsewhere for an extended period without meaningful progress, we also want you to know: that experience does not have to define your child’s story. Families have come to us after years of stagnation at other providers and found a new approach, a fresh team, and a breakthrough they had stopped believing was possible.
What to Expect as a Parent
Parents are among our greatest assets at Therapy & Wellness Connection. You know your child better than anyone, and we want that knowledge in the room. We invite parents to attend therapy sessions, field trips, and any other aspect of services where you have questions or interest. Your involvement is not a courtesy — it is part of the model.
You will also hear directly from your child’s therapists following sessions. Our interdisciplinary team communicates closely with one another and with you, so that everyone who cares about your child is working from the same playbook. Our team model, where therapists collaborate across disciplines on behalf of each client, is one of the reasons our patient retention rate is higher than average. When something is working, you will know. When something needs to adjust, we respond quickly and as a team.
A few important things to know: Most services require insurance pre-authorization, and it is the family’s responsibility to work with their insurer on that process, though we are happy to assist wherever we can. If your child does not yet have a diagnosis, that is not necessarily a barrier. We work with many children who have no formal diagnosis but are clearly struggling in one or more areas. We can evaluate and serve them just the same.
Also, make sure to review our attendance and cancellation policy before you start. Consistency is important for your child’s success, as well as our therapy scheduling. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
We Cannot Wait to Meet Your Family
One parent who came to us described the experience this way: “I wish I had found them when my daughter was little.” Another said our team changed the trajectory of their son’s life for the better. We do not take those words lightly, and we work every single day to deserve them.
